Hi Folks,
Hope folks had/are having a good holiday.

I wanted to see if anyone has anyone read the book, What is a Person? By Christian Smith (2010). I read it through back in 2013, but that was before I really understood critical realism and Bhaskar's overall vision. Smith is a professor of sociology and the book gives a "critical realist personalist" perspective and he advocates for an ontology of the human person that is remarkably congruent with UTOK.

Indeed, I would say that Smith's articulation of the ontology of human persons is completely congruent and UTOK's frame on the ontology of the mental into "human mental behavior" that frames the nature of human persons in exactly the way Smith does, using both critical realism and personalist perspectives is really quite inspiring.

I will be reaching out to him over the next week or so to see if he might do a podcast, but figured I would toss this into TOK land to see if anyone picks up on it.

Best,
G
