Hello all ~

I really enjoyed this rich and convergent dialogue, as well as Ali's notes. So much of what Raven says resonates with me, and wow she is brilliant at age 26! I have noted a shift in myself along with my own gender transition, strongly desiring to move from "caring about" to "caring for," which kept coming up listening to this.

One thing I really found notable was how our culture separates out what Ali's notes refer to as "higher-order virtues" from the whole of our animal nature and extols these, while denigrating other animal aspects native to our being such as shitting and fucking, while both sets exist within our mammalian selves, prior to the emergence of justification at the Culture-Person Plane of the ToK. This is indeed a strangely reductionist and irredeemably Axial Age approach, deeply woven into metaphysics which is doomed to nihilism.

Thank you!
Rachel

All,

I found this podcast to be sooooo intriguing and meaningful.

I took some notes and am happy to share for those who might find them useful and / interesting:

- "Movement toward the implicit expression of explicit grammars"
- I was a dork with a bull cut = Gregg's childhood recap
- Hyperobjects as a referenced resource
- Grammar in terms of interacting with objects (we / they are "inherently imperceptible")
- "Wholeness is withdrawn, even from the object itself"
- "There are things about environmentalism that are emotionally manipulative..."
- We need to understand the psyche in order to understand the objective world
- "Grammar of my upbringing" as potential (and actual) proprogranda
- World collapse "doesn't mean I need to be a depressed anxious person" = Gen Z reframe
- "Where are we in relation to the transformations that are healthy?"
- Mastery of the concept of psyche (UToK current focus)
- What is the first person experience of being in relation to natural science? = psychology hasn't addressed this...but Gregg has!
- "What UTOK affords is a third-person, first-person intersubjective constructed interpersonal transjective epistemology that is coherent at the ontological level...it bridges psyche and coherence."
- "Presence and absence...absence has a gravitational quality to it...more so than presence...we need to be attuned to things that are missing"
- "I'm highly malleable" = Gregg suggests that Raven is "highly evolvable"
- "Masculine and feminine field dynamics"
- "Practices of receptivity" and "capacities to care" = feminine field dynamics
- "Insights are symptoms of my structural reorientation"
- AJ Bond from The Stoa on shame
- Gregg = feminine, therapist heart and physicist head
- "Opponent process that is complementary" = managing tension between bimodal gender polarities
- Bonnitta Roy - animal nature (bodily functions + fear + aggression vs. higher order virtues (love, loyalty, etc.))
- "If we are in touch with the bodies of babies and elders it demonstrates the life cycle and connection to health, wellness, wholeness and its relation to psyche"
- "Psyche is the epistemic, organizing, meaning-making, experiencing system that is at the core of the thing I can't see but the thing you see through"
- Proposition activates positive and negative space, invites questions and Q&A dynamics, and leads to the coordination of intersubjective reality
- 1:01:00 - 1:07:00 (ish) = really interesting Gregg mini-lecture on psyche, animal mind, justification, etc.
- Mythopoetic archetype = masculine priest (Gregg) is to solve and analyze problems, bring back to the female, get rewarded for work, and have the feminine use and evaluate the masculine work with female wisdom, knowing, and enacting =  desirous of the receptive and cyclical flourishing within and around architecture that the masucline has built = ROLE-BASED = regenerative connective-ness to the cycle of being
-1:17:00 - 1:24:00 (ish) = Raven on issues and gifts regarding current masculine and feminine opponent polarities +  relational process wisdom of psychotherapy
- "People are getting sucked into these very exaggerated failure modes"

Warmly,

Ali

Episode 47: UTOKing with Raven Connolly                                                  February 22, 2022

Title: Reflections on Sex, Gender, and Death

In Episode 47, Gregg welcomes Raven Connolly. She is an independent "philosopher queen" who travels in a mosaic of intellectual milieus, ranging from Justin Murphy’s IndieThinkers to Peter Limberg’s The Stoa. She hosts and interviews guests at The Stoa, and is currently developing a philosophy of the ovum, secrecy, and marriage. In this episode, she shares with Gregg her reflections on sex, gender, and death. They explore how her more intuitive exploratory sense of this time between worlds aligns with UTOK's more formal theoretical architecture and together they align in noting the important symbiosis between the perspectives, and the episode affords some especially useful reflections on sex and gender dynamics.

Here is the episode on podbean. Here is Raven's Facebook page.
