Dear Feminist Philosophy Community,

For those of you who have not heard already, I bring you the sad news that Linda Fisher passed quietly in her sleep on Monday, 3/21/2022. Linda was one of the scholars who founded the field of contemporary feminist phenomenology. Those of us who were lucky enough to count her as a friend will remember her extraordinary wit, generous sense of humor, and many contributions to feminist philosophy.

Her home institution remembers her here:

From Linda’s husband, Neil Berlad:

Linda's colleagues in her department put up a notice on the department's website, and shared it on their FB group (you have to scroll down to March 30, and there are a few comments):

From Neil: I understand that some of Linda's friends and colleagues have expressed interest in making donations in her name. Linda was, of course, interested in finding a cure for ALS, but I think even more important was finding ways to live with the disabilities that came with it, and finding, or sometimes forcing, ways to be recognized, acknowledged and valued as a vibrant individual. Fight for Right is a Ukrainian organization focused on making society accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities. In light of the current crisis, they are focusing their immediate efforts and doing amazing work aiding persons in Ukraine facing unique dangers in the war. Having had many friends and students from Ukraine over the years, Linda would have been deeply touched and inspired by the work this group is doing. Donations may be made through their website: eng.ffr.org.ua/support-in-crisis/eng.
