The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Appalachian State University
invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month faculty position
in Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2015.  AOS:
Social and Political Philosophy.  AOC: Must have experience as instructor of
record teaching Environmental Ethics. In addition, the department has teaching
needs in (in descending order of preference) Contemporary Continental
Philosophy, Medical Ethics, and Aesthetics.

Ph.D. in Philosophy by May 1, 2015 required.  Applicants must address the
following in their letter of application: demonstrated success in recruitment of
Philosophy majors, including efforts to recruit members of underrepresented
groups in Philosophy; demonstrated ability in teaching; demonstrated ability for
research; and demonstrated willingness to participate in institutional affairs
and professional service to the department and University.

Applicants must send a complete application consisting of (1) a letter of
application; (2) a current CV; (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness (for
example, reviews or sample evaluations); (4) a sample of written work; (5)
copies of unofficial graduate transcripts, and (5) 3 letters of reference.  All
