Hello All
Hope your summers are not yet over..
I'm about to teach a neuroethics course and would like to assign students to watch a film--of their choosing--over the Labor Day break. I am going to offer suggestions as I want them to think about the various inter-relationships among 1)notions of the normal--identities, behaviors, bodies; 2)conceptions of the brain/mind--what it is and what it's not; 3)and socio-political frameworks and assumptions about race, gender, sexuality, and cognitive ability. Films about clinical interventions are especially of interest to me as are sci-fi flicks that push us to question what we think we know about the mind/brain.
All Suggestions welcome. I'm trying to them to see more than one of the Bourne franchise movies...
One fave film of mine--tho it was devistatingly painful to watch--was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind....
Girl Interrupted is also one I'm thinking of recommending. Films about war and the brain would be great to hear about as would movies where notions of normal masculinity are at issue. Classic or older films would be great (especially if they are available via online streamer of collection such as Criterion...)
Great tv episode recommendations are also welcome...

I will post a list of films if I receive a sufficient response. Could be useful for putting together a film series...
Thanks very much.
