Hi All,

Planning for the Feminist Philosophy Archive Project is going well! Several senior advisors and scholars with extensive archivist experience have joined the project, a website is currently being built, and the list-serve is surpassing 100 members. In addition, we are in the process of collecting information and forming connections with the archivists at Brown University FTA and at the Sophia Smith Collection. Currently, we heard back from both and will be meeting with the archivists at Brown University in September. With this in mind, we are emailing for two reasons: 1) To obtain information for the archivists and 2) to send out a call for steering committee members.

First, Brown University FTA requested that we obtain information before our initial meeting. Specifically, we need to get a rough idea of what materials the feminist philosophy community has that need to go into the archive, particularly all SWIP related materials that have been unearthed recently. The archivists are not interested in any materials that have been published in final print form. Rather, FPAP is looking to collect the following genealogy materials for FPA for both the SWIP archive and other projects:

Drafts of feminist works through development and collaboration
Letters between feminist philosophers and individuals in other areas of philosophy or in other disciplines
Meeting minutes and planning materials from the birth of the SWIPS.
Post 2004 SWIP materials, as the archive at Smith College stops at that date and only includes some Eastern SWIP materials.
Any materials that are of historical importance but have not been published.

Please let us know if you have any of these items over the FPAP list-serve or in individual emails to Christina and Samantha. We are not in a position to accept them yet but need to have an idea of what may be out there that to be archived. Also, we would like to thank the thirteen people who have already contacted us offering materials in June through August over FEAST. We have not forgotten about you and will be sending individual emails soon!

Second, FPA is looking for steering committee members to guide the project and make important decisions, such as those regarding internal funding, archival material decisions, and future projects. Please let us know if you are interested in being a part of the project. Again, we can be contacted through the list-serve or via email. The current FPAP committee will be making the final decision about who will be on the steering committee, but all are welcome to offer support and assistance. Thanks so much for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

FPA Project Committee
