6th Annual Fall Ethics Symposium: Dimensions of Ethics in Research
September 20, 2011

Keynote: Christine Grady, RN/PhD, Deputy & Acting Chief, Head of the Section on Human Subjects Research, Department of Bioethics, Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health

This year’s Annual Fall Ethics Symposium will be focused on the topic of ethics in research, broadly construed. We welcome proposals for presentations and for panels on any area within this topic, from any disciplinary perspective. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:


1.                 What’s at Stake in Research Ethics?

2.                 Do Science and Ethics Mix?  How (and How Well)?

3.                 Research Misconduct

4.                 Ethics of Drug Marketing and Drug Approval

5.                 The ABC’s and Ethics of Undergraduate Research

6.                 Mentoring Responsible Researchers of the Future

7.                 Strategies for Incorporating Ethics in the Science Curriculum

8.                 The Ethics of Animal Research

9.                 Ethics of Drug Labeling

10.            Conflicts of Interest in Research

11.            The Contribution of Science Education to Responsible Citizenship

12.            Consent, Autonomy and Well-Being in Research

SUBMIT: Complete presentation papers of no more than 2500 words/20 minutes talking time. Incomplete papers will not be accepted. Include contact info.
DEADLINE: August 20, 2011.
