Hi All — I’ve been waiting a bit to see how others chose to contribute and how I can contribute well. I just got a copy of Sally Haslanger’s book for a pretty small contribution. I was surprised any were left. But that’s probably because FEAST is an ethics group. And many of you might not realize how normative Sally’s metaphysics is. I think some copies of Sally's book are still available as gifts. And I definitely recommend Sally’s work and hope you’ll support PIKSI, as best you can. All best, Diana

Subject: Help PIKSI get to 10k before the weekend!

All,

We knew we could count on FEAST members to be the ones who would take concrete action to diversify the profession. The folks on this list have been incredible.

The fundraising campaign for the Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institute are almost at 10k, and if even half of the folks who read this email donated $5, we'd be there before the weekend. For folks who want to make larger donations, Sally Haslanger recently donated 7 signed copies of Resisting Reality for donors; 5 are left. Claim them while they're still left!

The link to donate is here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/piksi-2014-changing-the-face-of-philosophy/x/6426594

Also, folks who aren't familiar with PIKSI might enjoy watching this video about how it has impacted the lives of our students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayg6OSnWwxE

Thanks for being such a supportive feminist philosophy community!

Warmly,
Serene

we should also note that PIKSI board members have donated their own books as "premiums" if you donate $100! I do think this will mean more $100 contributions--someone thinks, "well, I can give $50," then sees the "deal" at $100 and clicks!

All-
Ann has opened up a great moment to thank all of the other feminist philosophy orgs who have been extremely helpful in the PIKSI fundraising campaign. Special shout-outs to Hypatia Inc. for being willing to collect the funds and to the Committee on the Status of Women for donating "Philosophy: Got Women?" buttons.

Also, if FEASTERs want to do: you can remind social networks that donating this is something concrete we can do to diversify philosophy! The shortened URL is: igg.me/at/piksi <http://t.co/sCoa2mVX2b> . Consider tweeting it and the hashtag #PIKSI or just posting the link to your Facebook page!

Serene

thanks Chris. You motivated me!

Just a heads up to all -- you'll receive 2 emails when you contribute--one from Indiegogo thanking you for the PIKSI contrib and the other tells you that you've contributed to Hypatia Inc and that's how it will appear on your credit card statement. This is NOT a mistake.
Hypatia, Inc. is the incorporated nonprofit that is handling the funding for PIKSI through Indiegogo.

Hello Everyone,
As most of you know, several of the members of FEAST and SWIP have been hard at work building PIKSI, a wonderful program dedicated to improving the pipeline of diverse and under-represented students into Philosophy graduate programs and, ultimately, into the profession. PIKSI is conducting a fund-raising campaign this month with the hope to get support from far and wide. Please consider supporting our work, and note that we are all volunteers, so your donation dollars go extra far in directly supporting programming.

This is something concrete we can do to increase diversity in philosophy.
