*Associate/Full Professor and Director of the Difference, Power and
Discrimination Program *

The College of Liberal Arts and the Division of Academic Affairs at Oregon
State University invite applications for the Director of the Difference,
Power and Discrimination (DPD) Program. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE),
9-month tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to
begin Fall 2013. This position also includes one month of summer salary to
compensate the Director for facilitation of the summer faculty seminar.
This tenured appointment requires candidates' dossier to be successfully
reviewed by the Promotion and Tenure Committee and Office of Academic
Affairs.

One half (0.5 FTE) of the successful candidate’s appointment will involve
serving as Director of the DPD Program within Academic Affairs. The DPD Program
contributes to the university’s social justice mission by working to create an
inclusive curriculum that addresses intersections of gender, race, social
class, sexual identity, age, ability and other institutionalized systems of
inequality and privilege. The Director is responsible for leadership and
administration of the DPD Program. In particular, the Director teaches the
DPD Faculty Seminar; develops and implements the Program’s vision, goals,
and programming agenda in collaboration with staff and stakeholders;
manages budgetary resources; and supervises any associated GTAs or interns.
In addition, the Director leads the assessment of program outcomes for the
DPD program; assists faculty in submitting curriculum proposals to the
Baccalaureate Core (general education) Committee; and participates in
university committees and activities related to the DPD Program.

The other 0.5 FTE will be directed toward teaching, undergraduate and
graduate student advising, research and scholarship, and service through an
academic unit within the College of Liberal Arts. While the academic
discipline and scholarly specialization of the person filling this position
are open, we seek candidates with knowledge of theories and pedagogies
related to difference, power, and discrimination.
