Tenure-Track Position in Philosophy:
Philosophy of Law, Justice Theory, and Ethics
The SFSU Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Qualifications: The Ph.D. in philosophy (all requirements completed before appointment starts), and either the J.D. or documentation of equivalent expertise in the field of law. A record of scholarly achievement appropriate to candidate’s career stage and demonstrated potential for publication in the field of law (including philosophy of law and legal theory).
Responsibilities and Duties: Duties include scholarly research and publication. The successful candidate will direct the baccalaureate degree emphasis in Philosophy and Law and will assume important roles in supervising M.A. theses, advising, committee service, and curricular development. SFSU faculty are expected to be effective in teaching; to demonstrate professional achievement and growth through continued research, publications, and/or creative activities; and to contribute their academic expertise and leadership to the campus and community. Our Department values collaborative work among philosophers and with scholars in other fields. The University provides opportunities for support of both research and teaching projects.
Rank and Salary: Appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary competitive, commensurate with qualifications. The SFSU Philosophy Department offers a rich array of courses.  The Department awards two B.A. degrees (in Philosophy and in Philosophy and Religion), with a special pre-law baccalaureate track, and awards the M.A. degree in Philosophy.
