Hi, Serene,

it is not disciplinary SSH text, but a superb essay which could serve as a splendid reflexive basis for the exposed relation: J. M. Coetzee, The Life of Animals (1999). The comparison between animal slaughter industry and holocaust is being made, and also problematized in the mode of literarized Socratic dialogues. J. M. Coetzee is a Nobel prize winner for literature (2003).

Best wishes, Ljudmila Renata

Subject: request for readings on race/intersectionality and animal rights

Hi All,

I have a wonderful undergraduate student who is doing a research project in sociology on the possibility of coalitions between racial justice and animal rights movements. He is a student of color and president of our campus animal rights club, and his project stems partly from attempts to respond to racism and sexism he has witnessed in the animal rights community.

I'd welcome any reading suggestions other FEASTIES might have for this student. Feel free reply off-list, and once I've gotten a few responses, I'll compile a master list and send it out to the group.

Thanks in advance and hope everyone's starts of term are going well!

Warmly,

Serene
