From Wang Zheng:
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On March 6, a group of young Chinese feminists (under 30 years old) were
arrested in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou. They were in the middle of
the preparation for the celebration of the March 8th International Women's
Day. This year's theme for their performative action in the public space is
anti-sexual harassment on the public transportation. They prepared some
small size signs and planned to put them on the subways and buses (see the
attached photo). The detailed information can be found in the New York
Times article below. Here I enclose a photo of the evidence of their crimes
and a photo of the so-called “warrant” shown to them in Beijing. The crime
in Chinese can be translated as “creating disturbance” or “being
disorderly.” This is the common name of crime applied to all the social
activists for various causes in China, but the first time applied to
feminist activism. The illegal warrant in the photo lists the name of
Haidian District Detention Center in Beijing.
Below is a web link created by Chinese feminists requesting your signature
on the petition to release the five young women. Please sign it and help
circulate it globally as well.
Many thanks!
Wang Zheng
We have setted up a sign-up link to call on feminists all over the world to
support them and urge the government to release them as soon as possible.

Would you please sign up and circulate the link as widely as you can? Our
goal is to collect support from 1000 feminists from 50 countries within a
week.
Here is the New York Times Link as reference.
