I am heartbroken. Sandy and I became friends in the late 1980s, initially because of our shared philosophical interests and feminist commitments. In the years since, our friendship became increasingly rich and multidimensional. We fully shared with each other all the details and nuances of our personal lives, past and present. Of course, we also discussed our ideas about feminism and philosophy (we share a background in phenomenology). Once or twice a year, we actually found something to disagree about :-) There are very few people I have loved as much as I love Sandy. A few days before she died, Sandy and I had one last chance to say “I love you” to each other. I miss her so much. I’ve posted on Facebook 2 sets of the most recent photos I have of Sandy, both taken while Luna and I were hanging out with her in Chicago. The January 2014 photos were taken during an incredibly intense Chicago winter, so the 3 of us spent several days sitting around her dining table, telling the stories of our lives. Those are my favorite memories of Sandy. To say that she was, and always will be, an amazing person is a huge understatement.
