Hi Folks,

Given the place that epistemology (and secondarily ontology) have had in some of our TOK Community discussions, I recommend this podcast between Tim Freke and Daniel S on What is Life?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ammJN0yCCbs

In the beginning of this conversation, Daniel gives a nice clear overview of the interior/first person/phenomenological/absolute/nondual/subjective versus the exterior/third person/behavioral/relative/dual/objective split and does a nice job emphasizing the fact that epistemological and ontological issues are often entangled. They then get some into the relational view of subjective in relation to objective. John Vervaeke offers some nice angles here with the participatory and “transjective” view associated with not just a subject observing/perceiving, but also the implications of a fundamental involvement and dynamic transaction.

I wish there had been some elaboration of the intersubjective, both the implicit relational intersubjective and the explicit linguistic hermeneutic intersubjective (i.e., the world of justification systems).

Daniel once again emphasizes Forrest Landry’s immanent metaphysics, which reminds me that I need to dive deeper into that frame.

Happy Saturday night 😊…

G
