Hi TOK List,

As I move in my book from arguing that behavior is the fundamental concept in modern empirical science writ large, I am now moving on to mapping mental processes within that conceptual structure.

See the attached for my map of the mind. Technically, this is called an exercise in descriptive metaphysics.

But you should be able to "grok" it with a little practice (shout out to Kacey for helping me see I need to help people grok the system). First, start with the fact that you are a witnessing entity. That means, you see the world from your point of view. This is your Mind2. Your Mind3 refers to the self-conscious narrator. This is the talking part of you. Your Mind3a refers to your internal narrator. Your Mind3b refers to what you publicly say to others. Mind1 refers to your neurocognitive system. You can consider it your brain-behavior system. This is a bit more complicated, but if you learn Behavioral Investment Theory, it will become clearer. Just think of your self as a behaving entity seen from the outside and think of how your brain functions to coordinate/regulate your actions and you will have a beginning sense of Mind1.

I will stop there and see if there are questions.

Best,
Gregg
