Hi ToK-into-UTOKers,

I hope this finds people well. I had a good weekend.

Here is a draft of a blog that I welcome thoughts on. It is trying to tell the story of UTOK in as clear and succinct way as possible.

The Psyche Logos of Wisdom Energy and the Cultivation of WOMENS Knowledge in the 21st Century

The goal of this essay is to tell the story of the Unified Theory of Knowledge and share what it is about and what it can do for us in less than 500 words. The short answer is that solves our natural science knowledge problems so that we can be oriented toward the cultivation of wisdom energy (WE) in the 21st Century.

The somewhat more detailed answer is that modern empirical natural science (MENS) carried with it the Enlightenment Gap, the central and logical consequence of which was the problem of psychology. The problematic grammar of the MENS worldview meant that there was no coherent approach to "psyche logos". This failure meant that our subjectivity (pathos) and our collective value laden stories of who we are and where we come from (mythos) were split off from the core of logos (i.e., physics) in MENS thought. The downstream consequences have given rise to the meaning and mental meta-crises; therefore a profound crisis of ethos.

The accident of history was such that I happened to be situated at the vortex of this gap. My feminine therapist heart and my masculine scientist head combined such that I wanted a coherent science to ground the wisdom of the therapy room. For some silly reason I presumed that was feasible. If I had been paying attention to the relationship of modern science to wisdom I might well have questioned whether that assumption was wise. But I did not. Thankfully, in the mid1990s, that potentially erroneous implicit assumption paid off. In turning from the problem of psychotherapy to the core problem of psyche logos, I happened upon the Enlightenment Gap from a new angle. And out popped JUST and then the ToK System in 1997. These crucial insights filled in the Enlightenment Gap and set the stage for solving the metatheoretical problem of psyche logos. As such, for the first time in Big History, a coherent naturalism was finally possible.

This allows us to return to the original problem. That is, I wanted scientific knowledge to ground my approach to wisdom in the therapy room. Over the past few years I have now come to see the fallacy of those last four words. The Unified Theory of Knowledge is not about wisdom "in the therapy room". It is about Wisdom Energy writ large. With a coherent frame for cultivating WE, we can now move from MENS to a Wisdom Oriented MENS. WOMENS knowledge in the 21st Century. Of course, the central concern of WOMENS knowledge is cultivating WE. And that makes my feminine heart warm with love.
