Dear ToK Community,

When I first heard Gregg talk about ToK (Tree of Knowledge System), I was quite convinced he was talking about the IB version of Theory of Knowledge, a discipline that if I ever went back to teach again would be my top pick. It took me some time to adjust to a slightly different ToK paradigm (though still very much congruent with IB TOK).

I am writing because two prior colleagues and close friends of mine have written a seminal work on the TOK IB Textbook 2020 for Education, published by Oxford University Press. I highly recommend the two links to get more familiar- you will find lots of overlaps with the concepts we discuss on this platform.

1) Youtube talk from the co-authors (also married) on the new TOK material and orientation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxMriWQ9Cnw&feature=youtu.be

2) Sneak Peak into their incredible work: http://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/oxed/look-inside/9780198497745.pdf?region=uk

This is geared towards 11th and 12th graders at rigorous IB programs. These concepts are helping students make sense and meaning of these complex times with a broadened capacity to understand the role of language, power, systems, development, ecology, politics, etc. on our current worldview and resulting choices of actions, cognition, relation, and investment.

with care,
Kacey
