Hi TOK List,

First, thanks for all the congrats.

Second, a point of clarification. I shared this only because of the journal title, which helped me make a conceptual point. I will not be replying to this inquiry, as it is basically a scam. I get probably 3 or 4 of these “requests” a week. I am not at all unique. My guess is this is the case for a number of people on this list. Once you have enough “academic credibility,” which basically is a record of publishing in real journals, you get put on these lists to try to get you to publish something so that (a) you pay them and (b) they get some of your credibility.

This goes back to the point about the post I made about birds and the fake journal. Although the Journal of Behavior probably would not publish something that bad, it basically is a pay to play publication that people can use to pad their vita.

Thanks again, though, for the kind thoughts.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Best,
Gregg

Hi Gregg,

This is indeed good news. Congratulations!

And I'm now convinced that "behavior" is the single most slippery concept in the history of psychology. We never study "behavior" per se. Rather, we study certain patterns of behavior (and sciences differ with respect to patterns of interest).

Hi TOK List,
As those of you who are familiar with the system know, I am very keen on helping people understand that the concept of behavior is deceptive, with many hidden layers. It is crucial that we differentiate the epistemological meaning of the term (which basically translates into the epistemological googles of modern western science writ large and Wilber’s third person exterior quadrant view) and the ontological referent meaning which refers to the different kinds of behavior in nature.
Given that, you might be interested to see I just received this invitation to publish in the Journal of Behavior.
Best,
Gregg
