Hi TOK Folks,
I thought this infinite marble loop was weird:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbHBNUSVFC4

If there are physicists that see this, I would appreciate clarity on why this is not a case of a perpetual motion that could be used to generate a perpetual motion machine. Just glancing at it seems like it might be (i.e., that there is energy that could be syphoned off here to do work indefinitely), but that would violate the second law, and so clarity on that point would be helpful to me. It made me wonder if the system is not closed because of gravity but that seemed weird to me at some level.

Best,
Gregg

PS In case anyone missed it, the subject line is in reference to a post I just made about "observing human mental behavior" as I am always hammering home the importance of specifying the kind of behavior we are interested in.
