Thanks for the link to the Brooks Op-Ed piece. I fully agree with the
premise that we have reached a 'low water mark' in this country's history,
not unlike the run-up to the Civil War. But as you know, I maintain that
the dichotomous thinking we are burdened with is the consequence of
ambiguity/deception. But now that we recognize that (we meaning me, you?,
the List?) we can and should do something about the dualistic mode as a
space-holder for a better world order if possible, or suffer the
consequences. Yesterday we took our grand daughters to the beach, and
afterwards to an ice cream parlor. As we were ordering a horde of little
girls (~20) stormed the place, literally shoving my wife and g'daughters
aside. My wife made a comment to one of the parents in charge, who began
remonstrating my 71 year old white haired wife that 'they're only
children'. My other anecdote is driving in Philadelphia, where we live
part-time. When you come to a stop sign it appears that the right of way
goes to the person with the most expensive vehicle....really.....I've
witnessed this several times. So bottom-lineism is destroying the fabric of
this society, which used to operated under the principle of "Rule by the
majority with respect to the minority", for example.

I can only hope that our dialog re: ToK is a step in the correct direction,
at least for the List, if not beyond, depending on how this process fares. J
