The mat in the pictures has a black area for the inspection area. Is that just the table surface painted black?

I am surprised there are not more questions about this new rule #19 added this year.
Especially considering you get extra 5 point for every scored mission, if can fit all equipment in "Small Area"
My team has few of questions below:

We are assuming red, white, tan units and other mission models in the home/base are not considered part of the inspection equipment - right ?

The robot, all the attachments and alignment jigs which will be used during the robot run will be considered as equipment which has to fit in "Small Area" or "Large Area" inspection area.

The robot with its body and all the attachments can be properly stacked in the inspection area on each other but they should not exceed 12 inches height.

If we have large attachment which is built using multiple smaller attachment modules we can dissemble to fit in the inspection area then assemble in the launch Area before the run.

Please advice!
Thanks

Most of the people that I have talked with expect the Equipment to be free-standing during the Inspection, so that the Referee is able to take a close look, if needed.

Disassembly and reassembly of attachments in Home is under the control of the team. The Technicians may do whatever the team wants them to.

VA-DC Refs,
According to the rules for this season, rule 19 brings about a big change from previous seasons:

Rule 19. Show the Referee that ALL your Equipment fits in either the Large or Small Inspection Area (your choice), under an imaginary ceiling 12 in. (30.5 cm) high. If it fits in the Small Inspection area, you get an advantage. The “Small Area” advantage for the City Shaper game is 5 points added to each Mission where you score ANY points. Exceptions: Mission 14 doesn’t apply, and for Mission 2, you get 10 added instead of 5.
After passing Inspection, arrange your Equipment anywhere in Home for storage and adjustments, and/or the Launch Area for Launch.

When testing for fit, does the equipment have to be free-standing, or can it be strategically held by hand while showing the refs that it fits? Also, will any amount of disassembly of large attachments be permitted in order to get it to fit (understanding that there is not much guaranteed time for setup after the inspection)?
