We're just a few days from the opening of the tournament preference selection portion of the VA-DC FLL registration process. I have included a lot of notes below as well as the registration instructions below that so please take a few minutes and read the notes. We look forward to seeing you all at regional tournaments in November!
Important things to remember:
VA-DC FLL registration is open now (all except the tournament preference portion) and will remain open until midnight, October 10th. You MUST be registered by that time to compete in a VA-DC FLL regional tournament
Starting at 10 am on October 1st you will be able to select your preferences for tournament assignment (1st, 2nd and 3rd). This must be completed by midnight on October 10th. We hope to post assignments by October 15th.
You must have paid the $150 regional fee by October 10th. Please keep in mind that when you pay, the registration site is not automatically updated to show your payment. It is done manually so it may take up to a day or two to reflect your payment (so don't panic if you don't see it right away).
If you do not plan to participate in VA-DC FLL regional events please either log into the VA-DC FLL registration system and indicate this or send me at email at mailto:[log in to unmask] (include your team number). This will save us a lot of time tracking down missing teams in the next few weeks.
Assignments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis though there may have to be some adjustments on account of divisions at each event. Some events may become single-division events, depending on the number of teams in each division that choose the event.
Again, assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis so if you have a strong preference, the earlier you register, the better. We cannot guarantee any team into a specific event until we have completed the assignments. Also keep in mind that some tournaments are very popular and we cannot control what teams request each event. Some tournaments may have a LOT of teams request them and we can only place a certain number of teams there. Please keep this in mind as you select your 2nd and 3rd choices.
While we do what we can to get teams into their 1st choice (and usually get 80-85% of teams into theirs), not all teams will get their 1st choice so please select 2nd and 3rd choices with that in mind. Each year we have a small number of teams that we are unable to place in any of their top 3 choices and will attempt to put them in an event on the same day as one of their other choices in the closest possible area.
Please make sure that you register ALL members of the team and include their birthdays. This is critical for two reasons. One is that we make sure that your team is placed in the correct division. The second reason is that we order supplies (like participation ribbons) based on the team members registered at each event so if you don't register all the kids there may not be enough materials at your event.
Remember that the VA-DC FLL Registration system will close at midnight on October 10th. After that point you will NOT be able to log into the system and make ANY changes (team members, names, etc.). Please have all changes done by this time. We must lock the system to allow us to do the team assignments and the system will remain locked even after assignments are completed.

Below is specific information on how to complete the registration process.
1. Register
FLL team with FIRST (team name, national FLL
team number, coach contact info, etc.). FIRST LEGO League teams MUST be registered with FIRST for the 2019 City Shaper season before registering with
the VA-DC FLL Region. FIRST will issue the FLL team number.

2. Pay the $150 VA-DC FLL Regional Registration Fee (due
by 10/10/2019). Make sure to use your FLL National Registration number. Options for payment include:
a. Credit card online payment: An
additional $3.00 credit card processing fee will be charged with this option. a check for $150 to the address below. Be sure to include your team number on the check so that it can be correctly credited. Multiple payments may be included in the same check, but each team numbers must be indicated. Mailing address for check payments:

orders are acceptable from any VA or DC school system. Send your

3. Enter team member information (team

4. Regional Qualifying Tournament Preference Selection (pick
1st, 2nd and 3rd choice). This final step
(selection of tournaments) will not be available until 10 am on October 1st.
Assignments
are based on a first-come, first-serve basis based on tournament
selection so starting registration now will not guarantee your
preference but does give you
ample time to collect team member information ahead of time.

will be able to come back and make updates/changes as needed until the
end of the registration period on October 10th. We will send out
reminders when we get close
to the opening of the regional tournament selection portion.
