In my seven years, there has only been one regional without practice tables that my team has been at. That was at the National Portrait Gallery, three years ago. We took the table and the overall, that year.

I have always brought a long extension cord (50-100') and 4" wide blue painter's tape to tape it down. Include a power strip so you can run computers and recharge the robot. Plus, you can let others run off your power strip if they need it. Last year was the first time I saw a charging station.

One note, make sure your team has a back up of how the programs look going in, so when they try to make changes and want to revert it back, they have it. (Your team should make backups on a regular basis.)

Ben

Subject: Re: [VADCFLL-L] Tables at the Tournament

Adding to Steve's list. Tournament organizers provide space for teams in Pit area (staging)

- Practice Table(s) and Field kits. Shared tables, so considerate for others to use time equally.
- Desk and chairs for Material Props/computer and team members only.
- Charging Stations - varies by the tournament site.

In addition - - Tables and field set in each Robot Design Judging room.

Please don't take your fold-able tables (if any) and mats to the tournaments - no place to stove, but pose a safety hazard in hallways or open space.

Tables and field setup kits are provided at all official VA/DC FLL tournaments.

In fact, teams *may not* bring tables or mats--there isn't extra room for them. There's no reason to bring the mission models from your field kits either--they might be mistaken for ours.

All you need to bring are:
Team members and a coach or responsible adult
The robot, attachments, batteries, etc. (most teams bring the computer and cable, too)
Materials/props for your Project presentation
A great attitude
Lunch money or lunch materials
Signed consent forms for all team members and coaches

You'll see some other tips about good things to bring later in the season through discussions on this list.

Silly question...

Are tables provided at the tournament, or do we need to bring our own? If we need to bring our own, does the "second wall" need to be permanently attached to the table? Ours is loose at the moment.

Thanks!
