Our lesson, as a new team, was that the robot has trouble with consistency
(turning especially) when it is unevenly weighted, so my kids have rigged a
counter balance, with Lego wheels mostly, that has helped tremendously. My team
ended up redoing their base design last week after the initial problems with
turning could not be overcome because of a side mounted gear that was throwing
the wheel balance off so much turns were impossible to make. A lesson in
mechanical design for sure!
Good luck to your team,
Brandy

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Tips and tricks for consitency in turning
Thanks for all those who shared their ideas on gears.
Can anyone suggest tips and tricks for getting consistency in turning the robot.
We have slowed down on turns. It has improved but still lot of error.
Thanks in advance.
