Our first year, we had a team of 8- nine year old and one- 14 old sibling
who was on the team, and so from the get go, we were in Division 2. A lot
of teams have that straddle, where some, or like us, most of the members
are division 1, but you're competing  in D-2.  Having been to a couple
years of tournaments, I can tell you age is not as big a factor as
experience.   It is not unheard of for the top score of the robot game at a
local tournament to go to Division 1 team.
