Out team was also selected to go to the State Tournament at JMU. Are there suggestions for a hotel that my entire team could stay at for both Friday and Saturday night? Also, where can we get the Tournament info..like schedule and registration fees, etc.?

NxtGenRobo is looking forward to spending both days.

Thx

All I can say is: ditto. Go have fun, experiencem and celebrate..

To answer the "stay the night" question, I don't know what most teams are doing but if you live a ways away, I'd suggest spending both nights (Friday and Saturday) in Harisonburg. It is a great time and the team will be rested for both days. We'll be staying both nights.

	Thomas

The two day commitment is so worth the effort. Based on last year: Project and Core Values judging is on the first day. They also run sessions for the kids that can sign up for for part of the morning. The kids sign up in advanced but it is first come first serve. They transport the kids to the sessions and bring them back to you. If memory serves me, this was the morning of Saturday. Then project and core values judging.

The learning sessions cover a lot. My daughter went to a physics classroom to do experiments last year (or something like that).

Judging sessions are the same length as normal.

Sunday is robot table runs and robot design judging. You set pit tables up only on Sunday.

The awards ceremony is a bit long, but worth it, given they introduce all 90 to 100 teams.

There is a lot of waiting but the time goes fast. With 90 to 100 of the best teams the kids get a chance to talk with and interact with many other talented kids.

When we went last year I was thinking is this all there is, and the answer is no, it is a high energy wonderful time for the kids to celebrate learning and STEM. It is worth the time.

We had so much fun last year. We are going again this year and the decision to go was instantaneous.

Go with the expectation to have fun. If the team wins something then celebrate, if they don't, celebrate as well.

		Hi Lloyd and Team,

One more email from a newbie coach (FBI #10032) who is about to venture to the Championship Tournament for the first time. Asking families and students to commit two whole days of their weekend is tough, especially when you don't know the specifics of the tournament.

How does the Championship Tournament (CT) compare with the Regional Tournament (RT)? If the first day only involves judging, will it be a short day? If it takes two days, are the judging sessions twice as long? Are there extra events at the CT that were at the RT? Do most teams stay the night or do they drive home and come back?

Any extra information will be very helpful

		Be well

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Question on State competition Schedule Dec 3rd/Dec 4th

				Hi Team:

Our team NxtGenRobo (3839) has been selected for the state competition to be held on Dec 3rd and Dec 4th at Harrisonburg.

My questions is can we go one of the days or do we have to go both the days. Our kids are in division 1.

Can someone please answer my question?

				Thx
				Pam
