Hi Cathleen

On page 5 of our rulebook defines what these black and white areas are. The white area is called launch. The black area plus the white area is called home so it can be a little confusing.


If we look on page 19 of the rulebook rule 4, it states that when launching the robot and anything that is about to move must fit completely inside the launch area and be at rest.

Answer to your question, no, the robots arm cannot be in home. It must fit completely in launch.

An answer to your second question, as long as the team has started the robot completely inside launch, then the robot can go anywhere on the board. There are no restrictions.

If the robot is in the starting white area but one of its arms is in the black home area when starting, is that okay?  If one of the robot’s wheels  goes in the black Home area but the other wheel is still on the matt to do a mission, is that okay?
