If FIRST tells us we can use it for our team, I see no reason to believe we
are being dishonest or breaking the law by allowing our team to use
software we purchased.

Also FIRST has the basic software on their website for free download-
*I called the Lego tech support to see if they had patches for the new
Windows 8, and it turns out they do-  And it's even better than I had hoped
for, because you can download the entire software package to your laptops
today!  (Plus you can download this to your desktops :)   It takes about 10
minutes from beginning to end.

They have it for FREE on their own website. It's like open source at this
moment.  They only thing this one doesn't have that the educational
software does is "data logging", which let's be honest- 99.9% of teams will
not use in competition.
